On September 25, 2019, after more than four years of construction, Beijing Daxing International Airport officially commenced operations, presenting a grand gift to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.

Viewed from above, Daxing Airport resembles a golden phoenix, proudly standing and ready to take flight. Daxing Airport is the first airport project in China approved by the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China. With a total investment of 80 billion RMB, its terminal building covers an area of 1.4 million square meters, and is designed to handle 100 million passengers and 800,000 aircraft movements annually. Spanning Beijing and Hebei Province, Daxing Airport is the first large-scale international aviation hub in New China to cross administrative regions, serving as a key strategic gateway for the integration of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and the "Belt and Road" Initiative.

One of the highlights of Daxing Airport is its power supply system, which achieves an international top-tier reliability rate of 99.9999%, meaning the average annual power outage per customer does not exceed 30 seconds. To ensure such high reliability, the airport employs the world's most reliable "dual-loop network or triple-power source" grid structure. This multi-voltage-level power transmission inevitably relies on reliable power cables. As the main power cable supplier for Daxing Airport, Far East provided various types of cables, including 10kV medium-voltage power cables and approach lighting cables. Among them, the supply of 10kV power cables exceeded 188 kilometers, long enough to span the entire city of Beijing. Last September, the airport construction headquarters, contractors, and other related units specially visited Far East for an inspection and exchange, giving high recognition to Far East's cable products.

Due to the high waterproofing requirements for airport cables, after extensive research, Far East was ultimately required to provide power cables with superior waterproofing and low-temperature resistance. However, northern winters are extremely cold, and improper installation could easily cause cracking in the outer sheath of waterproof cables. Far East's technical service team visited the construction site multiple times, providing comprehensive technical support in a timely manner and strictly following national standards and regulations during construction, making every effort to solve customer problems and ensuring the smooth and efficient progress of airport construction.

Precision and Efficiency: Creating a World-Class Navigation System

An airport landing guidance system uses radio equipment to guide pilots or autopilots for safe aircraft landings and is crucial for flight safety. In the construction of Daxing Airport, Far East undertook the installation and commissioning tasks for multiple landing systems. Since joining the project, Far East's construction team worked day and night, completing the installation of all six Instrument Landing Systems (ILS), one Omnidirectional Range/Distance Measuring Equipment (VOR/DME) system, and antenna-feeder systems in just three months, setting a record for the fastest installation time in the company's navigation engineering history. At the same time, they strictly controlled quality in areas such as drawing refinement, measurement and positioning, electrical installation processes, light fixture installation, and joint fabrication, achieving aesthetically pleasing layouts, ingenious designs, and prominent highlights, striving to create a model and exemplary project. During flight inspections earlier in the year, the installation craftsmanship of the navigation equipment undertaken by the company received high praise from professional inspectors in terms of standardization, scientific methodology, and process optimization.

Innovation and Courage: Illuminating Approach Lighting

Airport approach lighting is a visual aid for aircraft landing during nighttime and in complex weather conditions, serving as an important auxiliary to radio landing systems. It ensures aircraft can land safely during day and night under low visibility conditions. Factors such as the airport's class, number of flights, weather conditions, surrounding environment, and supporting navigation facilities all influence the configuration of lighting systems. Achieving a balance among cost efficiency, flight safety, and airport coordination is a highly complex engineering task. Despite tight schedules, Far East's construction team strictly controlled all these factors and made improvements and innovations in four key processes: trenching, light pit reservation, light box foundation formwork fabrication, and light box cover plate signage production. These enhancements greatly improved construction efficiency, reduced costs, and optimized visual aesthetics. The high-quality light boxes within the airport have excellent appearance and durability, with clear lettering and corrosion-resistant, wear-resistant plates—every detail reflects Far East's dedication and innovation.
